Something To Think About

The Beatitudes are rich with multiple layers of meaning.  Here’s a paraphrase I did a while back in an effort to uncover some of the treasures found in them.  I hope it makes you think.  Better yet, maybe it will make you want to try coming up with your own paraphrase.

Blessed are those who recognize their spiritual poverty, they will experience the richness of God’s rule.

Blessed are those who choose to mourn, for they will know the comfort that comes from God.

Blessed are those who choose to advance by faith rather than force, they will receive the blessing of God.

Blessed are those who live with the mindset of mercy, they shall receive what they have given.

Blessed are those whose hearts are hungry and spirits are thirsty for whatever is right, for their souls will be satisfied.

Blessed are those in whose heart God rules, for their pure heart will give them powerful vision.

Blessed are those who work for peace, they are like God because peace is the work of God.

Blessed are those who take a hit because they belong to God, they are in good company and have a great reward.
